Abstract | This study employs the intellectual-capital based view of the firm to examine the mediating role of intellectual capital in the relationship between human resource development (HRD) practices and organizational performance. Results from 213 firms in Taiwan show that the three components of intellectual capital, namely, human, organizational and social capital, mediate the relationship between three sets of HRD practices (i.e., developmental, constructive, and collaborative HRD practices) and organizational performance in terms of return-on-assets. |
