Abstract	R esearch on cogniti ve proc essin g rout es in translati on, as one of th e most c ontroversia l iss ues, i s an i mportant part of trans lation p roc ess researc h. On the one ha nd , ex perimenta l psycholin guistic s tudies in vestig ate the effect of the e xternal and internal facto rs of t ranslat ors on the interp lay of the co gniti ve pro ces sing route s, such as their L2 co mpetence an d t ranslation competenc e, whi ch offers strong empiri cal evidenc e in this ar ea. O n the oth er hand, corpus-as siste d expl orations of cognitive processin g ro utes examin e transl ation al proc essing pa tte rns in rea l scenarios through ob serving the links b etween transl ation strategies and processin g r outes . This artic le p resents an overview o f co gnitive proces sing routes and relevant ex perimenta l and corpu s-assi sted studies. It then p oints out th e problem s c oncernin g the experi men tal su bjects, d ata coll ection methods, lan-guag e pairs a nd resear ch objects. Finally , it conclude s by offer ing suggestions for future research in this area. Key words: cognitive processing routes; experimental studies; corpus-assisted research
