| Abstract | Taking narrative theory as the theoretical basis, this paper discusses reframing strategies in news translation on the Edward Snowden incident. It compares 47 pairs of Chinese and English news reports and their translations by the Chinese News Services (ECNS) on the incident. The research result shows that various reframing strategies are adopted in reframing the narratives in the news event and in mediating the narrative stances. The paper argues that possible constraining factors in reframing the news include the target readerships, the Sino-U.S. bilateral relationship and the political position of the news agencies. |
