AbstractThis paper discusses bioethical questions around death on the basis of Daoist philosophical ideas expressed in the Laozi and Zhuangzi. It is argued that these texts argue in favor of an "emancipation" of death as an equally valid segment in the natural course of transformation from life to death and from death to life.
