| Abstract | Amid gloomy external market, Hong Kong’s economic growth moderated in 2015 largely bolstered by a strong expansion in household consumption. Its labor market remained relatively robust and inflation registered continual decline. In contrast, Hong Kong’s property market had weakened in 2015 and stock market experienced a sharp correction in the third quarter. Hong Kong’s economy is likely to face even gloomier climate in 2016. Improved physical connections with the Mainland and tighter embrace with its economy will be key for the territory to expand its service exports in tourism and financial services. |
