Abstract | Rho-associated protein kinase (ROCK) is a member of serine-threonine kinase family that was discovered as a first downstream effector of small GTPase Rho. Some studies have suggested that the abnormal ROCK activation was involved in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Some small compounds targeting ROCK have been developed and tested in cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases clinic models. This review is to introduce the recent advances in the role of ROCK in cardio-cerebrovascular disease and the application of ROCK inhibitors. |
