| Abstract | This chapter presents an overview of the situation of foreign language teaching in China and examines some of the language policies adopted in the country. Initially, we will present a brief history of foreign language teaching in China since 1911 to then examine how the teaching of foreign language is adopted in the primary, secondary and tertiary education. After these considerations, we will analyze the Portuguese language as a bachelor degree in China and the growth of the market for Portuguese speakers to finally analyze and reflect how foreign language education have been dealt with in language policies and politics foreign policies adopted by China. |
