In his lecture, “Collaborative Distributed Control on Smart Micro-Grid Energy Management,” Prof. Chow first provided a brief overview of the energy sector revolution from the legacy power grid, through micro/smart grids, to smarter grids, including the motivations, challenges, and enabling technologies of each stage in this inevitable transition. He also highlighted one technology being developed in his ADAC Laboratory on cooperative distributed energy management to illustrate some current efforts in making micro/smart grids smarter. He concluded with an outlook of the future work that will contribute to the “smarter grids.”
