Abstract | Investigations about free vibration analysis of cracked FGM beams are of considerable significance. Beam theories were taken to analyze the free vibration of beams in the majority of researches. However, beam theories rely on some hypothesis in the deformation plane. Some models were proposed in order to consider the crack effects. The most widely used spring model regards the cracked beam as two health beam linked by a spring. This model neglects the stress intensity effect at the crack tip. In the present paper, Ritz method is used combing with two-dimensional analysis for free vibration of clamped-free cracked FGM beams. Displacements are expressed by Chebyshev polynomials and crack functions. Parametric studies cover various FGM volume fraction exponents k, and crack depth ratios dc/h. In addition, mode shapes are presented to reveal crack effects |
