Abstract | Work values have not been explicitly linked to job quality and communication environment. In this study, we seek to understand the work attitude of undergraduate students before they enter the work force. We investigated the relationship between work values, job quality (JQ) and communication environment (CE). The study utilizes a cross-sectional survey design. We analyzed the data using SEM and ANOVA. Based on data collected from undergraduate students in China, Thailand, and United Arab Emirates, the results showed that work values exhibit significant effects on to job quality. Work values is also positively related to communication environment. Job seekers are more likely to choose jobs matching to their own work value orientation providing them consequent job quality and communication environment. Cross mean comparison showed differences in culture, gender and work experience between the three samples in the studied variables. The study underscores the importance of job quality and communication environment as important motivators in the workplace. Practical implications for management and counselling were offered. |
