2017-2018, When typhoon Hato hit Macau, the installations of the Galleries were largely destroyed, but barely one month later were again reconstructed through the collaborative efforts of academics, students and artists coordinated by Dr. Puente-Ballesteros. The news of this achievement were globally spread by the SCEAR/UNESCO MoW webpage, thus turning the Galleries and the University of Macao’s community to a reference for academic ethics. In this climate of generosity Dr. Puente-Ballesteros could count on the commitment of the well-known Macau artist and calligrapher Choi Chun Heng (Cai Chuanxing 蔡傳興) who designed unique calligraphic masterpieces especially created for the Department of History in order to support this spirit of achievement. Master Choi's work of art entitled “Reflections on The Literary Mind and the Carving of Dragons” has been showcased at UMAC during 2017-2018. | |
