Abstract

The aim of this article is to provide an overview and introduction to the origins and concept of Macao literature, its pluralistic character and representative writers. The author offers some of his own views on the concept and characteristics of Macao literature, in particular, how historically Macao has served as one of the platforms for cultural exchange between the East and the West. The bilingual approach in both Chinese and Portuguese have formed the plurality of Macao literature, considered one of the most attractive feature of Macao literature. However, the lack of consideration in such factor takes away part of the context when considering Macau literature, leaving an incomplete imagination.
