Abstract

Cognitive styles underlie both Chinese and English languages and culture, such as the difference in conception of discount, as a point  in case, 70% off in English corresponds to its Chinese counterpart 7 zhe, and the expression from this time forward corresponts to its Chinese counterpart cong jin yihou(back). However, most of such kind of differences are either neglected or lack of explanation, causing learners to be bewildered. To facilitate cross-cultural learners, we propose to converse language-specifc cognitive stles  from one language to another, with exceplifications as operational approach.
