AbstractA wireless angular displacement sensing system is presented in this paper, which is composed of UHF passive RFID two-tag array. In order to illustrate the sensing functionality, the electromagnetic coupling between the two tags is analyzed and simulated. In particular, a metal board with etched slot structure is used between the tags to realize the coupling effect. Based on the measurements of rotating tag's Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI) of the reader, the estimation of angular displacement is provided. The sensing performance is tested experimentally validating angular displacement ranged from 0 to 90 degrees for RSSI of -54 dBm to -79 dBm.
