Abstract	Based on Araujo et al. (2008), we describe and analyze the contexts triggering addition and deletion processes in words with antepenultimate stress (proparoxytones) in Sao Tome and Principe Portuguese. Therefore, we hope to contribute to understanding Portuguese typological possibilities and document a less- known variety. The data showed that there are words that maintain the antepenultimate stress, while others undergo processes of deletion and addition. Furthermore, it was observed that optional deletion processes and stress shifts might be triggered by post-stressed vowel deletion in syllables with rhotic, lateral, and sibilant consonants. At the same time, Sao Tome and Principe Portuguese avoid complex cluster sequences. Therefore, syllable structure is responsible for conditioning the output produced by the speakers. Hence, the phonological processes found in antepenultimate words in Sao Tome and Principe Portuguese also offer evidence for the uniqueness of this variant.
