Abstract	提起禘礼，《礼记》、汉儒“不王不禘”、“祀其始祖”、时禘说影响甚大，以致后儒都以为先秦禘礼如他们所言那样，而对先秦真相不甚了了。事实上，商周(商代、西周、春秋)时段的禘礼与经说有很大的不同，没有“不王不禘”制说。本文溯流追源，探讨商周禘礼里的主禘者、禘祭对象、禘礼形式、禘礼时间等演变。商代、西周、春秋三个时段的禘礼既有继承因循，又有演变发展之处。简言之，商代由商王主禘，祭祀先祖及自然神等。西周主禘者由周王而为卿大夫，禘祭近系五代祖先，尤其是父考。春秋时期主禘者由诸侯而卿大夫而家臣，禘祭对象主要也是近系祖考，禘礼发展出灌(祼)礼、吉禘、私禘、定昭穆等礼节。禘礼被后代儒家高度重视有其原因。
