Abstract | After a few of years of intense global debates about the ethical concerns, potential dangers and expected benefits as well as regulatory challenges related to artificial intelligence (AI), the dust seems to have settled and it is time to assess the situation from a panoptical view. The presentation will begin with the origins of the notion of AI, revisit some of the key substantive and institutional elements of the global regulatory AI debate, which include the fields of global trade, intellectual property, and human rights. By casting light on new potentially disruptive technologies, the presentation concludes by trying to identify the principal challenges for the future role of law and legal education in order to find the appropriate responses to them. |
