Abstract | A facile and effective microfluidic solution is proposed to generate addressable and high-throughput monodisperse femto-liter (fL) water-in-oil (W/O) array, by in-situ generating and trapping monodisperse W/O droplets with diameters of the 10 μm order using 3D microfluidic traps. The performances and control factors of shrinking W/O droplets are investigated. Excellent long-time stability in 16 days has been achieved, and their coefficients of variation are typically below 10%. Amount of solute molecules is found most important to determine the final volume of W/O droplets, which can be well fitted with an excellent correlation coefficient 96.7%. |
