Abstract

The synthesis of 4 Å single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCN) was analyzed using Si-substituted AlPO-5 molecular sieves. The SAPO-5 molecular sieves pyrolyzed the hydrocarbon molecules by acting as the catalysts. The Si decoration was found to be favourable to the formation of carbon nanotubes in the SAPO-5 channels. It was concluded that the Si doped SWNT had better quality than those fabricated without Si doping.
