Abstract

In order to make clear the interaction mechanism of single component epoxy in cementitious environment, the interaction between epoxy resin and active silanol, epoxy resin and alkali was investigated From solid-state C NMR and FT-IR tests, it is confirmed that silanol group can initiate epoxy resin. Test results have also revealed that alkali as the dominant product of cement hydration can open the epoxide ring making epoxy harden.
