Abstract | In this work, we show an epoxy resin-based nanocomposite derived from porous carbon aerogel known for its nano-scaled pores and three dimensional network structure. We investigate the thermal property of epoxy resin-based nanocomposite by changing the structure of carbon aerogel. It is shown that the carbon aerogel influences the glass transition temperature (T) and thermal expansion coefficient of nanocomposite. T increases with the sizes of carbon aggregates in the carbon aerogel. The CTE decreases with the pore volume of carbon aerogel. It is also shown that the existence of carbon aerogel does not affect degradation temperature. From TGA analysis, the morphology of carbon aerogel does not affect the degradation temperature. |
