Abstract | Although Beijing does not want to see the “internationalization” of the Taiwan issue and claims that the Taiwan issue is an internal matter that needs to be settled by the Chinese on both shores of the Taiwan Strait, it is fully aware that the United States is a key factor in shaping the reality of cross-Strait relations, which is never a pure bilateral relationship between Beijing and Taipei. There- fore, cross-Strait relations have to be viewed in terms of the Beijing-Taipei- Washington triangle. |
