In this study, we established a visual detection method of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) products on digital microfluidic chips. Using a recently established DNA amplification enhancer, we were able to apply the dsDNA-binding dyes in PCR at a remarkably high concentration and lifted the dyes' signal with positive samples. Excited with a UV pen or the mobile phone flashlight, the amplification results of on-chip PCR were easily visualized by naked eyes.
