Abstract | This paper reviews three recent techniques that enhance the frequency tuning range (FTR) of the millimeter wave (mm-Wave) VCOs including the switched inductor, mode-Switching inductive tuning, and harmonic extraction techniques. The FTR enhancement principles, phase noise and power consumption of these three techniques are comprehensively discussed and compared, to provide the essential guidelines of the wideband mm-Wave VCO design. |
