The Brazil is an important reference at the works of the writers Miguel Torga and Vitorino Nemésio. Thus, the first one lived and worked in Brazil during five years when he was a teenager. On other hand, Nemésio visited this country many times and he was visiting professor at the University of Bahia. In this paper we will discuss, using the theoretical approaches of imagology, how the “seven art” is inscribed in the works of those two writers through the cinematographic representations of the Brazilian cities (Rio de Janeiro and S. Paulo) in Diário VII by Miguel Torga and O Segredo de Ouro Preto e Outros Caminhos by Nemésio. So, we will attempt to understand how those images of the foreigner (Brazilian) cities are drawn, how they may refl ect the intersection between the identity and the alterity, the homeland and the foreigner culture. In this sequence, we will analyze the construction of cinematographic descriptions, drawn by images and metaphors, as well as the establishment of diegetic and semantic relationships that enable the capture of several actions and images, similar to film sequences. In short, we will try to understand if the images of the cities are stereotyped or whether they are the result of a mythical and personal vision of the world.
