Abstract

As short noncoding RNAs binding genes and down-regulating their expression, miRNAs have been proved to function in multiple biological processes and demonstrated critical roles in diseases, especially in cancer. In the hottest field of biotechnology research over the past decade, China is developing at an accelerated pace in terms of knowledge production represented by scientific publications. This chapter aims to construct institution collaboration network of Chinese miRNA research in cancer measured by co-publication frequency in the Web of Science, analyze China’s landscape and the role of Hong Kong in this field, and further provide information for investors and researchers in building research partnership. This chapter, like a navigation map in the sea of Chinese oncology research on miRNAs, helps to figure out the leaders and sub-communities, understand behavior of members and their associations, and even position every member in the system. Moreover, on a basis of this work, it is possible to address policy recommendations to promote the research and development on biotechnology in China, especially for Hong Kong.
