| Abstract | The impact of Information and communication technology (ICT) on language life is discussed building on existing studies in Internet Linguistics and Language Life. The discussion starts with the linguistic changes due to the use of the Internet and computer-mediated communication (CMC), and expands to ICT impacts in language education and language service, which constitute two important domains of language life. Examples and information are taken from the recent studies on language life in China and also from other sources. Apart from a synthesis on the available information on the technological advances, general issues regarding language and technology and the relevant issues in China are also discussed. |
