Abstract

Due to their high power density and torque density, dual-permanent-magnet-excited motors (DPMEMs) have been becoming strong competitors in in direct-drive applications. Model predictive control (MPC) is an attractive and an alternative strategy for electric drives because of its simple implementation, straightforward handling of nonlinearities and constraints, and good dynamic performance. Nevertheless, there has been little research on MPC for DPMEMs up till now. Moreover, tuning weighting factors is an annoying work for MPC due to the lack of theoretical design method. This paper is to propose, design and verify a finite-control-set model predictive flux-linkage control without weighting factor for DPMEMs.
