Abstract

A drastic acceleration of the perception of change can be stated to have initiated with important technological inventions that have been made throughout the 20th century. These inventions have not only changed our way of living but equally altered our perception of change itself. The resulting changes have also brought about serious challenges to the existing order governing – what is now called – the “global information society”. In order to respond to these changes by way of formulating new modes of governance, this article discusses the question of whether it is necessary to ‘mind the change’ and to eventually also ‘change the mind’, and tries to formulate some principal as well as concrete recommendations for future directions of the debate on the governance of local and global affairs, viz. “glocalisation”.
