Abstract | Traces is a monograph of creative works with some writings in both Chinese and English on the discourse of drawing practice. The collection aims to extend the notion of drawing, a form of communication, is a cognitive instrument for cumulating knowledge and understanding. In fact, drawing practice, a highly-regard practice since the Renaissance, is a mindful process of innovation and imagination. While integrating with cultural resources such as ordinary objects, drawing practice connects to our social life and the world. It aims to draw the attention of drawing being instrumental to the contemporary practice and discourse. The book form acts as an artwork; some 200 creative images are covered with about 15,000 word-count. |
